Tanita Apps
In Australia, there are two apps we suggest that users of Tanita Bluetooth Body Composition Monitors can download & use: the MyTanita App or the HealthPlanet App.
Please note: Both apps are free to download and use. You don't need to use both apps, simply chose which one you prefer best.
MyTanita - Healthcare App
The My Tanita app provided by TANITA Europe to help you monitor your health and fitness progress using the most accurate BIA technology from the Tanita Bluetooth connected monitors, such as the RD-545, RD-953 and the BC-401.
The Tanita Body Composition Monitors easily connect with your smartphone (download from the Apple App Store & Google Play store) and will save your measurements collected in your body composition scan to the app. This means that you have the data at your fingertips and see changes in your results on the graphs over time.
Measurements collected may include:

Weight / Body Fat % / Muscle Mass / Bone Mass / Visceral Fat Rating / Basal Metabolic Rate / Metabolic Age / Total Body Water % / BMI / Muscle Quality / Physique Rating
Please Note: Measurements collected by the My Tanita app will vary based on the measurements collected by the Monitor you use.
On the My Tanita app, you will be able to download your reading as pdf or csv file, which is perfect for when you need to send your results to your personal trainer, or print them out to help you keep track of your progress.
Setting Up Data Sync to Apple Health from My Tanita App
The My Tanita app has the ability to read and write measurements in Apple Health. These measurements may include (depending on your Monitor):
- Body Fat % / BMI / Height / Lean Body Mass / Resting Energy / Weight
To set up data sync to Apple Health, please follow the below steps:
- Download the My Tanita app to your iPhone via the App Store. Set up an account and a personal profile (you can have up to 4-5 profiles per account).
- Go into Settings (three horizontal lines button in the top left corner of the app screen) and then select My Profile.
- On this page you should see your Profile number, your information, your personal targets, preferred units and Synchronisation (if you can't see it, scroll down the age). Apple Health will be listed here as an app you can sync your data to. Please toggle it on if you'd like to sync your data.
- Close the My Tanita app (do not log out). Open the Apple Health app on the same device. You should be on the Summary page when you first open the app, please select the Sharing tab.
- Once in the menu, select Apps and then select My Tanita (which will now appear in this list as you completed Steps 1-3).
- In this menu, you will be able to chose from the list will sync to Apple Health.

HealthPlanet App
The HealthPlanet app is provided by TANITA HEALTH LINK, INC and helps you measure & monitor your results from your Tanita Bluetooth Body Composition Monitor. The app connects to RD-545, RD-953, BC-401 and BC-402.
You can download the HealthPlanet app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.
With the HealthPlanet app, carry your results with you so you can refer back to them at any time. Visually see changes in your results with the graphs, which can be set to view measurements taken over one week, one month, three months, six months, or one year.
Measurements collected may include:
- Body Weight / Body Fat % / Muscle Mass / Estimated Bone Mass / Visceral Fat Rating / BMR (basal metabolism rate) / Metabolic Age / BMI (body mass index) / Muscle Quality Score
Please Note: Measurements collected by the HealthPlanet app will vary based on the measurements collected by the Monitor you use.
Setting Up Data Sync to Apple Health from HealthPlanet App
The HealthPlanet app has the ability to write measurements in Apple Health. These measurements may include (depending on your Monitor):
- Body Fat % / BMI / Diastolic Blood Pressure / Resting Heart Rate / Systolic Blood Pressure / Weight
To set up data sync to Apple Health, please follow the below steps:
- Open the Apple Health app on the same device you have the HealthPlanet app downloaded and set up. You should be on the Summary page when you first open the app, please select the Sharing tab.
- Once in the menu, select Apps and then select HealthPlanet.
- In this menu, you can select 'Turn On All' or chose from the list of stats that you want to sync to Apple Health.
- To ensure connection, open the HealthPlanet app, then click the Profile icon in the top right hand corner of your screen (person with lines icon).
- Once in the Profile Menu, select 'Connect to the Health App'. All the options you selected in the Apple Health app should be toggled orange. All unselected options will be grey. You can click the 'Connect' button at the bottom of the page to determine if you want all data to sync or all future data.
